Coulochem® III
Don’t let the name fool you, ESA’s Coulochem III offers you a choice – the only ECD system on the market that delivers the best in both amperometric and coulometric performance – giving you the capability you need for your specific application. The Coulochem III provides the options necessary for performing pulsed amperometric detection and cyclic voltammetry for maximum flexibility.
The most sensitive, sophisticated electrochemical detector available, the Coulochem III is ideal for use in methods development or for routine applications requiring high-sensitivity detection of a single or a small group of analytes. |

Features and benefits
- Unmatched sensitivity – provides the most high-quality information from smaller, more-dilute samples.
- Unparalleled flexibility – choose from three detection modes, whichever is best for your application: DC (amperometric or coulometric), pulsed amperometric, or cyclic voltammetry.
- Exceptional instrument stability – temperature-control option ensures reliable, reproducible measurements every time: day after day, experiment after experiment.
- Reliable, trouble-free operation – significantly reduces downtime; the Coulochem III is easy to implement, easy to learn, easy to operate, and easy to maintain.
A Coulochem system is ideal for a broad spectrum of analytical problems. For example:
Pharmaceutical – From drug discovery to quality control, the inherent sensitivity and selectivity of the Coulochem system enable measurement of vanishingly small quantities of pharmaceuticals and their metabolites, even in complex samples. Applications include discovery of novel drugs in natural products, assessment of drug stability, and determination of physiological activity.
Food & beverage – The Coulochem system's ability to measure low levels of non-volatile flavonoids and phenolics can provide a competitive advantage by profiling the characteristic qualities of products, determining their integrity, and evaluating competitors' products.
Neuroscience – The measurement of neurotransmitters, simultaneous monoamines, and amino acids are just some of the examples of the neuroscience applications of the Coulochem system.
Chemical & general purpose – Analysis in the environmental lab is enhanced by the ability to screen for a large number of compounds, such as pesticides and herbicides, where the allowable limits are below those readily measurable by other analytical techniques. In addition, the analysis of low levels of explosive compounds is becoming increasingly important in site characterization projects.
Oxidative metabolism – Our Coulochem systems are used in laboratories to determine everything from nutrition levels in foods to the study of free radicals in living organisms and their harmful effect on cells. The Coulochem is an ideal analytical tool to study the often complicated multifaceted pathways involved in oxygen-protective mechanisms and damage that can result when those mechanisms fail.
HPLC clinical-research assays – A number of important clinically relevant cancer, cardiovascular and osteoporosis markers are readily and accurately measured in serum, plasma, or urine by electrochemical detection using the specificity, selectivity, and sensitivity of the Coulochem system.
