“I do not know of any other bench-top device that can reliably quantitate proteins, peptides, and small molecules in the same analytical run. The Corona CAD has the potential to become the benchmark chromatographic detector throughout the pharmaceutical industry.”
Simple, intuitive operation
A robust, reliable, plug-and-play device, Corona requires no calibration or optimization – so even those with minimal training can run it. Operators need only inject the sample, turn on the nitrogen gas, and press one button to get results – we’ve put all the sophistication and complexity inside the box.
Whether you are trying to detect proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, or small molecules; whether you are doing excipient and formulation characterization, forced-degradation studies, impurity analysis, cleaning validations, or final product QC – the Corona CAD lets you see what you’ve been missing. The technology behind the tool
CAD is based on established evaporative techniques that have been deployed effectively in evaporative light scattering detectors (ELSD) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) systems. However, the back end – the charged aerosol detector – is a completely new detection methodology for HPLC. We discovered that by marrying the new aerosol techniques with established evaporative technology, we would be able to meet market needs never before addressable with traditional detection technologies. Thermo Scientific Dionex integrated the two technologies to design an entirely new class of instrument. The combination offers orders-of-magnitude advantages in sensitivity, dynamic range, consistency, and reproducibility, making the Corona CAD the first truly universal HPLC detector.
