Specialized coulometric cells
ESA offers a variety of specialty electrochemical cells to meet your application need. These range from simple guard cells to remove contaminants from samples and conditioning cells to optimize the mobile phase quality and composition, to a cell optimized specifically for integration into mass spectrometry HPLC systems to provide additional ionization power for difficult-to-analyze molecules.
Guard Cell
This cell is designed to be placed directly after the pump to remove any electroactive impurities from the mobile phase.
This cell contains a single large porous graphite electrode to which a potential is applied. , which prior to the injector, column and analytical cell. Use of this cell can decrease observed background current and reduce baseline noise. The guard cell is the only electrochemical cell designed to withstand high pressures relative to the column and is not suitable for post-column installation.
