Surrogate analysis for Containment Monitoring:
Acetaminophen Some manufacturers have always used acetaminophen as a surrogate. ESA’s reporting limit of 0.5 ng per filter is the lowest reporting limit available in the industry.
Lactose is the surrogate of choice in the pharmaceutical industry. Our 0.5 ng / sample reporting limit is the lowest in the industry.
Mannitol is frequently utilized as a surrogate when lactose is already present in the facility. ESAL’s reporting limit is 1.0 ng per filter.
Naproxen is the surrogate of choice when a more crystalline compound is desired. ESA’s reporting limit of 0.25 ng per filter
is the lowest available in the industry.

Calcitriol 1α dihydroxy Vitamin D3 We have developed a wipe method for this highly potent form of vitamin D.
Doxorubicin A highly sensitive method for both air and wipe samples has been developed. The reporting limit is 5 ng per sample for air filters.
Aldehyde The DNPH chemistry is used for either an aldehyde screen or just for formaldehyde.
Arsenic air and wipes can be analyzed for arsenic.
Inorganic Acids The inorganic acids and ions can be analyzed using NIOSH 7903 and ion chromatography.
Lead Air and wipes can be analyzed for lead.
Organic Acids Air samples can be analyzed for formic, acetic, propionic, butyric, and isobutyric acids.
